Lucky Bamboo

Do you know what is lucky bamboo?Do you have your lucky bamboo?Do you wonder why it call “Lucky Bamboo”?Known for centuries as Lucky Bamboo, the plant is not a bamboo in any way, but a elastic member of the lily people that grows in the dead of night, steamy rainforests of Southeast Asia and Africa.

Along with its ease of growth, Lucky Bamboo has long been related to the Eastern live out of Feng Shui – or the bringing of natural elements of metal, wood, water, fire and earth into balance within the environment. Lucky Bamboo is believed to be an idyllic example of the flourishing wood and water factor, with the addition of a red ribbon now and then tied around the stalks – which is believed to “fire” the positive flow of energy or chi in the room.

The number of stalks also has import – three stalks for happiness; five stalks for wealth; six stalks for health. Four stalks, however, are always avoided since the word “4″ in Chinese sounds like to the Chinese word for “death”!

The lucky bamboo is very important to Chinese,so how to take care of the bamboo?Caring for lucky bamboo plants is very easy. Typically, they are grown in several inches of clear water, maybe supported by small pebbles, shingle, or marbles. It is necessary that the water be kept clean and bright and not allowed to stagnate.

In areas where the local water is heavily treated with chlorine or flouride , the leaf tips or sides of the lucky bamboo may turn out to be yellow or brown. This condition can also be caused by too many salts in the water, like in “softened” water. Thus, it may be advisable to allow tap water to stand in an open container for 24 hours, allowing the chlorine and flouride to disperse, before using it with your plants. In the presence of salts, it is best to used filtered or distilled water.

If you are interested in the lucky bamboo,I think you can buy a bamboo and caring for it.Maybe you can get more good luck~
